Overview of Project
MARI Oceans or PT MARI Sejahtera Indonesia is currently working to deliver a seaweed initiative with the central aim of empowering climate-resilient coastal communities and rebalancing the seaweed production supply chain through improved farming practices, finance, and technology. The development of community-aligned organizations will facilitate positive social, economic, and environmental impact and monitoring in South Sulawesi, scalable both regionally and globally.
With a blockchain-based value chain ecosystem, we will deliver consistent quality for customers internationally, stabilize prices and upgrade artisanal farming to large-scale contract production. Harnessing this framework, we will integrate community protection, financing, and educational services to move livelihoods away from biased, exploitative systems to new ones which distribute profit in harmony with nature.
Whilst our initial target is to drive seaweed aquaculture growth and uplift farmers' earnings, the project will work to diversify livelihoods and provide further opportunities for community development.
